News: Jeff Garcia discussed the possibility of not even playing in 2008 if Tampa Bay does not give him a new deal, according to buccaneersgab.com. Garcia discussed the situation on Siruis NFL Radio, saying that he might quit before the season begins if something is not done soon. "If it doesn't work itself out, if a contract is not presented as far as a renewal to finish my career, then I will seriously think about what my alternate options may be," Garcia said today. "And it may come to not playing football anymore." Garcia went on... "I feel like when you mistreat people there comes a time when it doesn't matter how much you are paid, it's going to lead to some drastic decisions."
WhoDatSay: Although we hate to laugh at the misfortune of others, this is great news for Saints fans. The Bucs are damned either way. We can certainly understand why Tampa Bay does not want to commit long-term money to a 38-year-old quarterback who threw only 13 TD's all year and who showed signs of slowing down at the end of last season -- that would be a poor investment. However, if a deal doesn't get done, Brian Griese or Luke McCown would be forced to take the reigns. [brief pause to laugh]. Thank the lord for Drew Brees. Rumor has it, he led a gay parade in the streets of San Fran. All that matters is the Saints are the going to be the team to beat in the NFC South.
who cares if he led a gay parade, this is about football not parades.
I'm too lazy to look up what he's supposed to make this year, but whatever that amount is, do you think he'd throw that away? He has to know is value as a FA isn't that great, and that no one would be willing to give him a deal to "finish his career." What is that anyway, a 2 year deal? If he wants more than that then he's looney. I think he's desperately blowing smoke because this is likely the last year he'll ever be paid an NFL salary.
