Who Dat Hearsay: French Rugby Star to the Pats?

News: Argentina's leading newspaper, La Nacion, reported French Rugby Star Sebastian Chebal signed a 3 year, $15 million contract to play with the New England Patriots. Chabal (aka Sea Bass) is 6'3, 260lbs and is known throughout rugby circles as being perhaps the most physical and nasty player in the world.

Who Dat Say: We know that Bill Belichick believes that anything he touches turns to gold (i.e. Randy Moss as a team player, Mike Vrabel as an offensive threat, Troy Brown as a defensive one, Tom Brady in general,) but..... giving a French rugby player $5 million per year??? To rugby fans, Chabal is renowned for looking like -- and playing like -- a beast (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCR7I5Ar9hM). But it is hard to see the rationale behind signing him to an NFL roster. Other than the physical nature of both games, the skills and techniques that football require simply don't convert to rugby, and besides…..he's French! Let's be thankful that Sean Payton and company aren't scouring the French countryside for rugby talent. As for the validity of Belichick's new personnel addition, we'll believe this when we see it.
