Who Dat News: Feds Investigating Newly-acquired Lehr for Steroid Distribution

News: Federal authorities in North Texas are investigating Saint's offensive lineman Matt Lehr for allegedly distributing steroids and have subpoenaed one of his former Atlanta Falcons' teammates to testify before a federal grand jury, according to the Dallas Morning News. Paul Coggins, Lehr's attorney, acknowledged his client was under investigation, but said Lehr had done nothing wrong. Coggins said, "We have no reason to believe, based on what we know, that Matt is going to be doing anything for the next five years other than playing football." According to the article, Lehr is being investigated in part due to his alleged dealings with personal trainer and admitted steroids trafficker, David Jacobs, who pleaded guilty to steroid-distribution charges last November.

Who Dat Say: The article did not identify which of Lehr's former Atlanta teammates had been subpoenaed. Lehr, who received a four game suspension in 2006 for testing positive for a banned substance, is now in hot water. Although federal authorities have
not charged him with any crimes, and the existence of a federal investigation is no guarantee of an indictment, t
he Saints will most certainly have to answer questions on why they chose to bring him in.
