Who Dat News: NFL Hands Out Compensatory Picks
News: The NFL announced that 32 compensatory draft picks have been awarded to 15 teams based on a formula balancing players lost and added by each club in free agency, according to the Washington Post. The Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals were each awarded four picks, the most in this year's draft. Washington was given the top compensatory selection -- 96th overall (33rd in the third round.)
Who Dat Say: The Saints did not receive any compensatory selections based on the fact that they acquired more (or better qualifying) compensatory free agents than they lost in 2007. Atlanta received an extra pick in the third round (98th overall,) and Carolina got 2 extra picks in the seventh round. Tampa, like New Orleans, did not receive any compensatory picks.
