Who Dat News: Saints Brass Wine and Dine USC Standouts
News: Before USC's Pro-Day earlier this week, members of the New Orleans Saints staff brought DT Sedrick Ellis and LB Keith Rivers to dinner, according to the Daily News. At the meal, one Saint's member asked Rivers what time he thought he would run (in the forty) the following day. Rivers replied, "4.5 seconds." Rivers, who did not run at the combine because of an ankle injury, kept his word and ran a blistering 4.51.
Who Dat Say: The USC duo undoubtedly had impressive Pro-Day performances, and the Saints must be very interested in one if not both. In addition to clocking a speedy 40-time, Rivers also displayed remarkable athleticism with a 42" vertical leap. Ellis, too, cemeted his stock as a sure-fire first rounder (and top 10 pick.) He weighed in a few pounds lighter and easily eclipsed every measurable he set at the NFL combine in Indianapolis. While it's way too early to say that one of these two will be the pick, the team is definitely considering the options.

I wasn't sold on Rivers. At first, I didn't even want him. But if you watch some of the videos of him at his pro day, he looks and moves a lot like Patrick Willis did at the combine last year. I'd still prefer Ellis and maybe McKelvin, but I couldn't argue with the Saints if they chose Rivers.
